Congenital heart disease is a general name for a number of conditions that are present at birth. It is a common birth defect, with up to nine in every 1,000 babies affected in the UK.

We pride ourselves on our ability to treat the full range of congenital cardiac conditions, including highly complex case and many conditions can now be treated using minimally-invasive and non-surgical procedures. The Harley Street Clinic treats adults with congenital heart conditions, which means that we can offer paediatric patients seamless, integrated care as they progress from childhood into adulthood, receiving support throughout their lives from a team of experts familiar with their personal needs.

Our paediatric cardiac specialists include some of the world's leading consultants in their field. The Portland Hospital is the only independent hospital in the UK specialising in paediatric congenital heart treatments, while The Harley Street Clinic can offer highly-specialised, low-dose radiation scans for paediatric patients with congenital heart conditions.

Our paediatric cardiac service at The Portland Hospital has a dedicated unit for the care of babies and children with heart disease. This unit is fully supported by advanced diagnostics, catheter and electrophysiology laboratories, operating theatres and a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU). We're particularly proud of our link with Chain of Hope, a charity which brings children to the UK to receive life-saving cardiac treatment.
