Providing the future in heart attack prevention, today
Heart attacks can affect men and women of all ages but if you have a family history of heart disease or have a heart condition yourself you may be feeling anxious about being at an increased risk.
The Harley Street Clinic, London Bridge Hospital, The Wellington Hospital and The Lister Hospital offer patients CaRi-Heart® which has been developed to detect underlying risks of possible heart disease. Heart attacks occur when arteries become blocked and blood cannot reach the heart. The technology works by accurately measuring the amount of inflammation of blood vessels in and around the heart and identifying any arteries which are at an increased risk of becoming blocked or narrowed.
The results from our CaRi-Heart® analysis will show you you’re at an increased risk. For those patients who receive a troubling result, you will then be recommended to one of our cardiologists, to receive a personalised prevention and management plan.
Confidence in our care
We know it can be daunting to come into hospital, which is why we make everything as easy as possible.
If you’re concerned about your heart health, you should be able to access safe and effective care as soon as possible. We offer minimal waiting times at The Harley Street Clinic, London Bridge Hospital, The Wellington Hospital and The Lister Hospital, and we can even offer same day appointments in some cases.
CaRi-Heart® is a non-invasive technology that we apply as part of a routine CT coronary angiogram. You can go home after your scan and once our consultants have analysed the findings you’ll receive your results in a matter of days, giving you peace of mind and the opportunity to put preventative measures in place if necessary.
Access to world renowned care
The Harley Street Clinic, London Bridge Hospital, The Wellington Hospital and The Lister Hospital have a worldwide reputation for outstanding cardiac care and we work with some of the UK’s leading cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons. Situated within London’s famous medical district, we use latest generation scanners and diagnostic equipment, including low-dose radiation CT scanners, to ensure you’re getting a fast, clear and accurate diagnosis. If you need multiple tests, such as an MRI or an echocardiogram (ECG), we can usually arrange for them to be carried out on the same day.
If tests suggest further treatment is required, we provide a wide range of treatment options, from minimally invasive procedures to complex open heart surgery. Our multidisciplinary team of consultants, nurses, radiographers and pharmacists are on hand to support you, whatever care you may need. Should you require an inpatient stay, we have a dedicated cardiac ward that offers comfort, privacy and round-the-clock care.
CaRi-Heart® FAQs
Currently you cannot self-refer for CaRi-Heart® analysis – you need to be referred by a GP or cardiologist. CaRi-Heart® analysis is designed for those who are deemed high risk of a heart attack or Coronary Artery Disease (CAD).
The CaRi-Heart® analysis costs £495. Please be aware this excludes the cost of your cardiac CT. (CT coronary angiogram) You must have a cardiac CT in order to do the CaRi-Heart® risk analysis. The cardiac CT scan is covered by most private medical insurance companies. There is also the option to self-fund the cardiac CT scan.
We have a dedicated clinical team of cardiac radiographers who will manage your appointment once we have received your referral from your GP or consultant. This means that they can answer any questions you might have about the scan and your results before booking you in.

We understand the importance of a fast diagnosis, which is why offer minimal waiting times. We can usually arrange a same day scan for you.
As a patient, the experience is no different to a routine cardiac CT Scan. When you arrive at one of our London cardiac hospitals a consultant will go through the procedure with you and explain the process. After a small drip is inserted into your arm, you’re escorted into the scanning room and asked to lie down on the scanning table and you’re then moved into the scanner. Sensors will be positioned on your chest to obtain images of your heart.
After the scan you will be disconnected from the sensors and the drip. The whole process normally only takes 15 - 20 minutes.
We ensure that our patients have all their results in a matter of days. The images are reviewed by a consultant radiologist and then the data from the scan is sent for CaRi-Heart® analysis. Analysis is carried out and sent back to us within 48 hours, after which we will send the results to your GP or cardiologist.
If the results show that you have a high degree of inflammation and are therefore at risk of a heart attack, we may recommend you see a cardiologist who can work with you to put a personalised prevention plan in place. A cardiologist may recommend lifestyle changes, medication or, depending on your symptoms, treatments such as an angioplasty and a stent.
Currently, CaRi-Heart® technology is only available for self-funding patients at the price of £495. This cost does not include your cardiac CT scan which is usually covered by major insurers if you have a referral.
A referral from a GP or cardiologist is required for a cardiac CT scan with CaRi-Heart analysis. Patients can undergo this non-invasive scan at any of our London cardiac hospitals and receive their results within a matter of days. Those patients who receive a troubling result will then be recommended to one of our cardiologists, to receive a personalised prevention and management plan.
