Becoming a patient
How to access care at one of our facilities
Getting the care you need
At HCA Healthcare UK, accessing medical care for you or your family is a seamless process. And you won’t have to wait long for your first appointment – we aim to see you within 48 hours of you getting in touch or being referred.
How to become a HCA UK patient
It's easy to search for a consultant by their medical specialty. If you already know which consultant you would like to see, you can use our online form to request an appointment with the consultant of your choice.
Most of our patients are referred to us via their GP – whether that’s an NHS GP or a private GP. You can also be referred by a physiotherapist. If you don’t have a diagnosis or a referral, you can make an appointment with one of our GPs.
Our private GPs have full referring rights to all of our facilities and consultants so they can refer you to an appropriate consultant or for further tests, quickly. It’s often possible to make a same-day or next-day appointment.
Lots of our patients travel from abroad for assessments and treatments at our facilities. We have a dedicated international team that looks after everything – from helping you sort out your visa to arranging a translator.
All of our consultants are covered by major medical insurers. In order to authorise your treatment, insurers usually needs to see a referral letter from a GP (NHS or private). Once you have a referral, contact your insurer. Please bring this authorisation with you when you come for your appointment.
Don't wait, pay for yourself
You don't need private medical insurance to access care at our facilities. You can self-pay for all diagnostic tests and procedures we offer.
