Chelsea Outpatients is a modern, contemporary diagnostic and treatment facility spread across two neighbouring sites: 272 and 280 King’s Road. Patients can access appointments with a variety of specialist consultants. There is onsite imaging from MRI scanning, Ultrasound to X-ray and Mammogram as well as diagnostics including blood tests, providing convenient high quality private healthcare in the heart of Chelsea.
The breadth of private consultants and the depth of their experience means you can book an appointment and receive professional, personal, attentive private healthcare in well-equipped rooms where minor procedures can be carried out.
Accessible appointments
We receive both patient groups, those with GP referrals and those who are self referrals. We welcome self referrals from women who are aged 40 years or over and have a UK based GP.
Patients coming for their first appointment with one of our breast consultants will receive diagnostic tests that are required on the same visit. We offer Digital Mammography, 3D Tomosynthesis Mammography and Breast Ultrasound to produce high quality imaging to aid diagnosis. The results of these diagnostic tests will be available to you on the same day. Should a tissue sample be required; an image guided biopsy or fine needle aspiration may be undertaken.
You will be supported by our excellent team including our Clinical Breast Nurse Specialist, Consultant Breast Consultant, Consultant Radiologists and Mammographers. Follow up consultations will also be arranged. Where tissue samples have been taken, they will be reviewed at our Pathology Lab and results may take 72 hours or longer if the results are to be reviewed by our Multi Disciplinary Team.
NHS Breast Screening Service
If you have been recalled by the NHS for further assessment but choose to use private healthcare, we can assist you if you have private insurance or want to self-fund. We will liaise with you to obtain your previous imaging before your first appointment. This will enable the team to facilitate any further diagnostic examinations if required.
Our consultant gynaecologists are leaders in their fields. Their expertise spans a wide range of services including gynaecology, fertility care, healthy contraception and menopause, supported by same or next-day appointments and diagnostics.
The Menopause Clinic opened in 2021, with a weekly clinic for patients who are looking to understand their menopausal symptoms and how to navigate this time in their life. The service consists of consultation and tests which vary from smears, mammograms and blood tests which can be completed on the same day. If needed, the clinic will arrange dietician and physiotherapy appointments also.
A specialist gynaecology nurse can be made available during clinics to help you with your visit, or to answer queries and provide support relating to any aspect of your health concerns.
Your treatment will start with a comprehensive assessment, where the physiotherapist will carry out a physical examination and ask about your symptoms and medical history. Your physiotherapist will then provide you with an evidence-based treatment and exercise programme that is tailored to your needs. You will receive the very best care during your recovery and will have access to the latest treatments and state-of-the-art equipment.
Our physiotherapy area also provides the following equipment in our facility:
On-site triple assessment service
The Lumps and Bumps Clinic at Chelsea Outpatients is a specialist, rapid diagnostic, triple assessment service for soft tissue masses in men and women. We swiftly diagnose benign lumps and identify other conditions like soft tissue cancers.
We accept referrals from GPs, Consultants and will take a self-referral from a concerned individual.
Your consultant will then assess your lump and schedule an ultrasound. Depending on the nature of the mass, a biopsy, MRI, or onward specialist referral may be required. As part of our clinic we can offer a fast track diagnostic screening program, which means you won't have to wait for an appointment, you may be seen and screened in the same location with a rapid turnaround for the results.
The Skin Cancer Clinic provides access to MOHs surgery. Named after the surgeon who developed the technique, micrographic surgery is used to treat common types of skin cancer including basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. The skin layer is analysed on the spot under a microscope and the process is repeated until the layers of skin show no signs of cancer cells. This process ensures the minimum amount of skin tissue is removed whilst maximising the clearance of the skin tumour.
MOHs surgery is suited for the removal of skin cancers on thin, delicate areas of the skin, such as the face.
