CaRi-heart technology
Revolutionary new technology to assess the risk of a serious heart condition or heart attack – many years before anything happens.
Your pregnancy and giving birth is an incredibly precious time for parents-to-be, and we are always delighted when people choose to have their baby at our world-renowned hospital for women and children.
We pride ourselves on supporting and empowering our mothers-to-be and their birth partners at all times and ensuring they feel as informed and reassured as possible about their birthing experience with us. We encourage and advise all maternity patients to access antenatal care during pregnancy. These sessions are an opportunity for you to find out more information about giving birth, as well as ensuring you and your baby stay healthy as you progress with your pregnancy.
Finding your way at The Portland
At The Portland Hospital our midwives and maternity teams are supported by our Maternity Coordinator, Sharon Cooper.
Sharon is a dedicated point of contact to help you understand what's available at The Portland Hospital for your pregnancy, the steps you need to take during your pregnancy journey and answer any questions about booking to have your baby with us.
The early pregnancy service at The Portland Hospital is available to give newly expectant mothers the support they need during their first weeks and months of pregnancy.
Our team of experienced sonographers and consultants provide personalised care for women experiencing pain, bleeding, morning sickness or loss of symptoms. We offer a number of ultrasound examinations and routine antenatal screenings, including:
Same-day appointments are often available. If necessary, we can arrange further tests or consultations with a Gynaecologist.
The Obstetric Ultrasound and Fetal Medicine Unit offers both a consultant and sonographer-led service. Using state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, you and your partner can share in the experience of seeing your baby grow and mark the milestones in their development as your pregnancy progresses.
All our scans and non-invasive prenatal tests can be booked individually or for your ease you can choose from one of the packages we offer below:
We also offer a variety of other tests for your choice and reassurance, including:
Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) - these non-invasive prenatal tests can be undertaken alongside normal ultrasound scans and screens for Down’s, Edwards and Patau’s Syndrome.
Genetic testing - we provide highly advanced genetic testing programmes for individuals and partners wishing to conceive via IVF.
Please ask a member of the team for more information.
We believe it is important to offer expectant mothers choice and control over the type of antenatal care and delivery they receive. At The Portland Hospital we offer both consultant-led and midwife-led care, as well as the full range of birthing options to enable you to develop your own birth plan.
Depending on your individual pregnancy requirements, you can be assured that we provide a range of packages to suit your needs from early pregnancy through to your delivery. To find out more about our maternity packages, please email info.portland@hcahealthcare.co.uk or call 020 3468 6141.
