Dr Will Lester is a Consultant Haematologist based at University Hospitals Birmingham (Queen Elizabeth Hospital), where he also serves as the Clinical Service Lead for Haematology at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. He holds an honorary academic position as Clinical Associate Professor within the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Birmingham.
In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr Lester contributes significantly to national healthcare standards. He is the Clinical Director of UK NEQAS for blood coagulation and chairs the British Society for Haematology’s taskforce responsible for developing guidelines in haemostasis and thrombosis.
His work has been recognised through several prestigious awards, including a national Clinical Impact Award, the University Hospitals Birmingham Best in Clinical Care accolade, and the Royal College of Pathologists Achievement Award, highlighting his dedication to excellence in patient care, education, and clinical leadership.
