Dr Sujay Chandran is a highly respected UK Consultant Cardiologist specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of adult heart conditions. He is known for his holistic and personalised approach, ensuring that each patient receives care tailored to their individual needs, priorities and overall health goals.
He is extensively trained in all aspects of adult cardiology, with additional subspecialty expertise in the treatment and prevention of coronary artery disease. Dr Chandran has a particular interest in complex coronary intervention and intravascular imaging, having performed over 4,000 coronary angiograms and more than 1,500 coronary artery stenting procedures. His advanced interventional experience includes the management of chronic total occlusions and percutaneous mitral valve intervention (MitraClip).
Dr Chandran qualified in medicine from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London, in 2006. He completed his cardiology training in London and along the South Coast, undertaking interventional training at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital. He was subsequently awarded a prestigious, fully funded fellowship at McMaster University in Canada, a globally recognised centre for cardiovascular research and trials, where he developed expertise in highly complex coronary interventions.
He remains actively involved in research collaborations with this internationally renowned centre and maintains a strong academic profile. He was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD Res) at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in 2018 for his research into the molecular mechanisms underlying acute heart attacks. His work has been published in high-impact international journals.
