Mr Shah Khan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in treating conditions of the hip and knee. He is the Lead Surgeon for Hip and Knee Revision Surgery at North Middlesex Hospital part of the Royal Free Hospitals group, where he also treats a wide range of hip and knee disorders, including soft tissue injuries, knee realignment procedures and periprosthetic joint infection.
He graduated as a doctor from Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ Medical School in London, where he also earned an honours degree in Human Physiology. He trained as a junior doctor in some of the UK’s top hospitals across London and the South-East, gaining experience in cancer, plastic, and orthopaedic surgery. In 2012, he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons.
Mr Khan worked as a research fellow at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, one of the UK’s leading orthopaedic centres, under Prof Tim Briggs. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training on the prestigious Stanmore programme, where he focused on joint reconstruction, spending over a year at the RNOH Joint Reconstruction Unit.
He undertook advanced fellowships at two world-leading hospitals – Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Canada, and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. He trained with top surgeons in complex hip and knee replacement surgery. He also developed expertise in managing sports-related knee injuries and soft tissue problems under the guidance of one of London’s leading sports Knee specialists.
Mr Khan is committed to continuous learning and patient care. He holds a MSc degree in Musculoskeletal Sciences from the University of Oxford, for which he was awarded a distinction. He has presented his work at more than 30 national and international conferences and published several research articles on improving surgical techniques for hip and knee conditions.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Khan is passionate about teaching the next generation of doctors. He plays an active role in training junior doctors and is one of the orthopaedic education leads at North Middlesex Hospital.
