Mr Ran Wei is a Consultant Knee Surgeon whose practice centres on restoring movement, stability and long-term joint health. Appointed to Kingston Hospital in March 2023, he provides specialist care for a wide spectrum of knee conditions, combining modern surgical techniques with clear, practical guidance to support recovery and return to activity.
His medical education began with a BSc in Medicine from the University of St Andrews in 2007, followed by completion of his MBChB at the University of Manchester in 2010. He progressed through higher orthopaedic training on the Southwest London rotation, managing complex trauma and elective cases across several major NHS trusts and refining his operative expertise in knee reconstruction and preservation.
Mr Wei has also demonstrated a longstanding commitment to professional leadership and service development, having previously led the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association.
To broaden his exposure to high-performance sport, he undertook further experience in Australia at the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre, where he was involved in the care of competitive and elite athletes with ligament and cartilage injuries.
His clinical philosophy focuses on shared decision-making, evidence-based intervention and helping patients regain confidence in their mobility at every stage of treatment.
