Professor Christopher Lloyd is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist with over 30 years dedicated to children’s eye care. He practises at Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Portland Hospital, where he provides specialist assessment and surgical treatment for infants and children with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions.
He qualified with an MB BS from the University of London in 1985 and holds both the FRCS (Eng) and FRCOphth, reflecting his advanced surgical training and expertise in ophthalmology. Professor Lloyd is particularly recognised for his work in paediatric cataract management, including complex cataract surgery in babies and young children.
His clinical practice encompasses blocked tear duct (nasolacrimal duct obstruction) procedures, squint (strabismus) surgery, minor eyelid operations and comprehensive paediatric eye assessments. He treats conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye), genetic and developmental eye disorders, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, infections and broader vision problems in childhood.
In addition to his clinical work, Professor Lloyd is actively involved in education and academic publishing. He lectures internationally and has authored a specialist book on the management of cataracts in babies and children, contributing significantly to the advancement of paediatric ophthalmology worldwide.
