Professor Francis Chinegwundoh MBE is a highly respected Consultant Urologist based in London, specialising in prostate cancer, benign prostatic enlargement, erectile dysfunction and a wide range of other urological conditions. He also provides medicolegal services and is recognised for his extensive clinical expertise in both emergency and elective urology.
He qualified in medicine from the University of London in 1984 and later obtained a Master of Surgery degree in 1994 and a Master of Medical Law in 2010. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh, as well as a Fellow of the European Board of Urology. His specialist training was undertaken in London, the West Midlands and internationally in the United States.
Professor Chinegwundoh established and leads the regional prostate low-dose brachytherapy service at Barts Health NHS Trust and serves as Urology Lead at Newham University Hospital. He has performed over 1,500 transperineal template prostate biopsies and more than 100 transurethral needle ablation procedures for benign prostate enlargement. His clinical interests include urological oncology, prostate disease, erectile dysfunction, incontinence and sexual dysfunction. He also runs a dedicated incontinence service and leads major research studies in prostate cancer.
In addition to his clinical work, he is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and has served as an Honorary Visiting Professor at City, University of London. He contributes to medical education through teaching and by serving on medical school selection panels. He is widely published in the medical and surgical literature and has appeared on national television, including the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, discussing urological cancers.
Professor Chinegwundoh is committed to charitable work. He is Chairman of Cancer Black Care and a trustee of Tackle Prostate Cancer. In recognition of his services to the NHS and to urology, he was awarded an MBE in 2013. He also maintains a substantial medicolegal practice and regularly acts as an expert witness in court.
