About
Professor David Reid is an internationally renowned Consultant Rheumatologist who specialises in osteoporosis. David qualified in medicine in 1975 from the University of Aberdeen where he eventually became Professor of Rheumatology and Head of the School of Medicine and Dentistry at that institute. Since retiral in 2015 from the the University he has become Emeritus Professor.
For over 25 year he has been associated with the National Osteoporosis Society having held most of the honorary positions on the Board of Trustees including 4 years as Chair of the Board. His association with the charity, now the Royal Osteoporosis Society, has continued and he now serves as Senior Medical Adviser and Fund Raising Ambassador to their Bone Research Academy
He has been extensively involved in osteoporosis and DEXA scanning research and has over 400 peer-reviewed papers and reviews. Much of his research has centred around bone density measurement and studying new treatments for osteoporosis. He has brought this expertise to into the private sector being a leader in the clinical use of Dual-Energy X-ray scanning (DEXA) and the newest approved therapies for osteoporosis, specifically the most recent arrival Evenity which became available in March 2020.
He currently consults privately at the Harley Street Clinic and London Bridge Hospital at the Shard.
