Miss Elizabeth Hawkes is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon. She is a specialist in upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty surgery as well as all aspects of cosmetic eyelid surgery. Miss Hawkes also practices advanced facial aesthetics for non-surgical face and eye rejuvenation.
She was featured in the Tatler Beauty and Cosmetic Surgery Guide 2022 Top Doctors for Blepharoplasty Surgery. She has been nominated for the Aesthetics Awards 2022 Consultant of the Year and Best Surgical Result.
Miss Hawkes was mentored by the world-renowned Professor Richard Collin, who pioneered the specialty of oculoplastic surgery and authored the leading textbooks. She was delighted and humbled to be selected to take over the care of his patients and practice from 2019.
A trusted voice of authority in the media, Miss Hawkes regularly speaks on issues surrounding eye health and eyelid surgery. She sits on the clinical advisory board for the Aesthetics Journal helping to set aesthetic industry standards and providing key specialist ophthalmic perspectives. She is frequently asked for an expert second or third opinion on complex eyelid problems or complications.
Miss Hawkes graduated from Imperial College, London and has trained at Harvard Medical School, Boston. She undertook postgraduate medical and surgical training at St Mary's Hospital, London before specialising in eye and eyelid surgery. Elizabeth completed her ophthalmic surgical training on the Oxford rotation and spent time at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is an examiner for the final qualification required for those aspiring to become ophthalmologists. She is a Full Member of the highly respected European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society. Miss Hawkes has an interest in medical education and regularly lectures at national and international meetings.
Combining her passion for precise delicate surgery and meticulous attention to detail, eyelid plastic surgery was an obvious career choice. Her patients comment on her professional and friendly approach.
Miss Hawkes held a substantive NHS consultant post as Clinical Lead for the Emergency Eye Care Service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She is also available to consult on all aspects of general ophthalmology and is recognised with the major insurance companies.
