Mr Vipin Asopa is a Specialist Consultant Hip and Knee Surgeon with particular expertise in hip pain, knee pain and sports injuries. He performs a wide range of procedures including hip and knee joint replacement, arthroscopy and ACL reconstruction surgery. He manages both degenerative conditions such as arthritis and trochanteric pain, as well as acute and chronic sports-related injuries.
Mr Asopa qualified from the University of Bristol in 1998. He completed his basic surgical training on the prestigious Hammersmith Hospital rotation in 2002 before undertaking a PhD at Imperial College London, focusing on articular cartilage biology. He subsequently completed orthopaedic specialist training on the Charing Cross North West Thames rotation and was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2011.
He undertook advanced international fellowship training at SportsMed.SA in Adelaide, Australia, refining his sports surgery techniques. On returning to the UK, he completed specialist fellowships in hip arthroscopy and arthroplasty at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, followed by a trauma fellowship in Vienna, Austria.
Mr Asopa has been a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at North Middlesex University Hospital since 2014. He is actively involved in clinical leadership, audit and service improvement initiatives, and uses enhanced recovery techniques to perform day-case ACL reconstruction surgery.
He practises privately at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre, London Bridge Hospital (The Shard), Chiswick Medical Centre, Hendon Hospital and Fitzrovia Hospital. Committed to research and improving patient outcomes, he has published 18 original peer-reviewed scientific articles and remains actively involved in research design and oversight.
