Mr. Shehan Hettiaratchy is a Consultant Plastic, Hand, and Reconstructive Surgeon. After studying medicine at Trinity College, Oxford, he completed his surgical training in London, USA, and Australia. He undertook a three-year research fellowship in hand transplantation at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine by Oxford University. In 2009, he was appointed as a Consultant at Imperial College London. Mr. Hettiaratchy specializes in all aspects of hand surgery and complex extremity reconstruction. He has particular expertise in reconstruction of complex upper and lower extremity injuries, nerve injuries, infective complications, and elective hand surgery. He is actively involved in trauma research and has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, authored two textbooks, and numerous book chapters. Outside of work, he enjoys running and is a reservist with the British Army.
