About

Dr Rajeev Peravali is a highly qualified Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with over 14 years of surgical experience. He specialises in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery, having performed more than 5,000 operations, 90% of which are keyhole procedures. His patient-centred approach focuses on enhanced recovery and reduced postoperative discomfort.

Dr Peravali graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School and completed advanced surgical training at top UK centres, including University Hospital Birmingham and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He was selected for the prestigious John Goligher Fellowship in Advanced Coloproctology in Leeds and earned a Master of Surgery from the University of Edinburgh, with his dissertation centred on enhanced recovery in colorectal surgery. His research has been presented nationally and internationally.

He is the lead Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Surgeon at SWB and has a special interest in managing complex IBD cases, colorectal cancer, pelvic floor disorders, and diverticular disease. He also performs endoscopy, colonoscopy, and a wide range of colorectal and general procedures, including haemorrhoid, fistula, and hernia surgeries.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Peravali serves as a surgical tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons and as Consultant Sponsor for the FINCH service, demonstrating his commitment to surgical education and innovation.
