About
Mr. Rajab Kerwat is a Consultant General Surgeon Lewisham and Greenwich Trust. He also performs private work at London Bridge Hospital and HCA UK at The Shard. He has a special interest in upper gastrointestinal laparoscopic surgery and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
He qualified from Alfateh University Medical School, Tripoli, Libya in 1988. Following this he completed comprehensive surgical training that spanned twelve years in London, Cardiff and Tokyo. He was appointed as Consultant Surgeon in 2001 at Queen Mary's Hospital.
Mr. Kerwat also has vast experience in the subject of laparoscopic cholecystectomy and has published several articles on the topic. He uniquely combines keyhole (Laparoscopic) and endoscopic ERCP skills in the management of complicated gall bladder and bile duct stones in patients with jaundice, cholangitis and pancreatitis.
Owing to his extensive medical experience, he provides several advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures in his NHS and private practice hospitals including laparoscopic splenectomy, laparoscopic abdominal, groing and incisional hernia repair. He also offer Laparoscopic hiatus hernia repair surgery for primary & recurrent reflux disease (GORD) and for Giant hiatus hernia. He also performed single incision laparoscopic abdominal surgery (SILS) for cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendicectomy and right hemicolectomy.
He is a recognised trainer in general and laparoscopic surgery for junior doctors in the Foundation Training Programme and Specialty Higher Surgical Training Programme. He is also a trainer at The Royal College of Surgeons Laparoscopic training course programme.
Since qualifying, Mr. Kerwat has been working hard to provide his patients with care of the highest quality, which is furthermore clinically effective, safe and with a positive experience. This involves adopting a continuous development profile which necessitates a regular developing of his academic and technical skills.
