Omar Faiz is a consultant colorectal surgeon with clinical interests in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), hereditary cancer syndromes, colorectal cancer, and proctology. He trained in general and colorectal surgery and undertook specialist colorectal fellowships. Professor Faiz has wide research interests, particularly in colorectal surgical epidemiology, health services research, and surgical outcome research. He has authored numerous papers, book chapters, and textbooks. He holds various leadership positions at a national level and is actively involved in guideline development and quality improvement initiatives. His expertise includes laparoscopic surgery, colorectal surgery, anal fissure repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, colonoscopy, diverticular disease, fistula, haemorrhoid, hernia, and rectal cancer.
