About
Mr Matthew Perry was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at St George’s Hospital in 2005. He was later invited to establish the robotic cystectomy service at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford in 2013 and moved his entire NHS practice there in 2016.
A native Londoner, Matthew attended Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, qualifying in 1993. He earned his MD in 2002 for research into cancer vaccines for prostate cancer.
As a specialist in pelvic cancer, Matthew provides surgical services for complex pelvic cancer cases, focusing on robotic surgery for prostate and bladder cancer. He introduced narrow-band imaging for the early detection and management of superficial bladder cancer and initiated the robotic cystectomy programme at both St George’s and Royal Surrey County Hospitals, enhancing surgical safety and reducing hospital stay and complication rates.
Matthew serves as the Professional Director of Cancer Services at the Royal Surrey, is an adviser to the CRUK charity, and a Trustee of the Prostate Project charity.
