Professor Kiran Jumani is a highly experienced ENT Consultant Surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust, with over 23 years of expertise in ear, nose, and throat disorders.
He provides comprehensive ENT care, with a particular focus on otology, which involves the treatment of outer, middle, and inner ear conditions. Professor Jumani has performed a high volume of complex cholesteatoma surgeries, utilizing advanced otoendoscopic techniques to minimize mastoid cavity size while ensuring complete disease eradication, even in challenging anatomical regions. His expertise extends to hearing restoration, where he skilfully uses various prostheses and implants to enhance patient outcomes. Additionally, he established a dedicated balance clinic to provide effective management for patients experiencing vertigo, tinnitus and dizziness.
Professor Jumani trained in the North of England, refining his skills at Sunderland Royal Hospital and James Cook University Hospital. During this time, he gained substantial experience in Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and the management of chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal tumours. He is also proficient in open septorhinoplasty, offering functional nasal surgery, including septal corrections, which enables him to address conditions such as sleep-disordered breathing, snoring, and obstructive sleep apnoea.
He is recognised for his holistic approach to patient care, ensuring that each individual receives a tailored treatment plan that addresses their specific needs. His commitment to patient education empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their health, fostering a collaborative approach to treatment.
In addition to his clinical practice, Professor Jumani is passionate about medical education and training. He has been actively involved in teaching junior doctors and mentoring medical students at Queen Mary University of London. He also serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and holds an honorary role in teaching faculty and specialists there. His contributions to the field have earned him several accolades, including the Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Doctify and the Research Specialty Lead Award from North Thames CRN NIHR in 2024.
With a combination of surgical expertise, research leadership, and patient-centred care, Professor Jumani continues to be at the forefront of ENT surgery and innovation.
