Mr Declan Cahill is a Consultant Urological Surgeon. He obtained his degree with distinction at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (now Imperial College London) in 1993, after which he embarked on specialist training in Urology. After successfully completing his urology training in London, he undertook fellowship training at the globally renowned Institut Mutualiste Montsouris in Paris, where his focus was in minimally invasive prostate surgery.
Demonstrating his medical excellence and proficiency in surgery, Mr Cahill has been awarded the Hallett Prize Gold Medal for General Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons, as well as the Keith Yeates Gold Medal for Urology by the British Association of Urological Surgeons.
He is highly regarded for his work in general urological diagnostics and treatment, as well as his own specialist practice in prostate cancer. In addition to prostate cancer, he has many other specialist areas of interest, including robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, general urinary diagnostics and management (including urinary infection), haematuria, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and general conditions of the scrotum and penis.
Mr Cahill performs between three and five robotic radical prostatectomies per week, and his results in this procedure are best-in-class, being comparable to the best published results worldwide for cancer margins, continence and potency. He also operates on a very large volume of prostate cancer patients each year.
