I am a Consultant Neurosurgeon with a focus on spinal disorders, offering both the latest surgical and non-surgical treatments for a wide range of spinal conditions and neurotrauma.
While most spinal issues can be managed without surgery, when surgical intervention becomes necessary, I prioritise minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques. These approaches are linked to quicker recovery times and lower complication rates. I have learned these advanced techniques from leading experts worldwide and frequently collaborate with colleagues in Europe and the US to share knowledge and experiences.
Some spinal conditions are more complex and require a multidisciplinary approach. I believe these cases should be discussed within a team of specialists to ensure the best outcomes for patients. I am fortunate to work alongside highly skilled colleagues in both the NHS and private sectors, and we regularly come together to address challenging cases and develop comprehensive treatment plans. This often involves utilizing the latest technologies, such as neuro-navigation, neurophysiological monitoring, and spinal endoscopy, to enhance the safety and precision of surgeries.
In addition to my clinical work, I am the director of neurosurgical training in the region and serve as an examiner for the final neurosurgical fellowship exam (FRCS), which is essential for trainees pursuing consultant roles in the UK. This role is deeply rewarding and helps me stay at the forefront of advancements in my field.
