Dr Mary Sommerlad is a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Dermatologist based in London, with a strong passion for dermatology and empowering patients to achieve healthy skin. She is dedicated to offering an inclusive patient-centred, holistic approach to skin care and skin health. Dr Mary completed her medical training at University College London, where she obtained a First-Class intercalated BSc in Immunology and was awarded the British Society of Immunology Undergraduate Prize. She then underwent rigorous training programs in London and the South East, and completed her specialist training in Dermatology within the prestigious Royal London and Royal Free rotation.

Dr Mary has extensive experience in managing a wide range of chronic, acute, and emergency dermatological conditions, and has also participated in clinical trials. She has presented at national and international conferences and has several publications in leading peer-reviewed academic journals, including the British Journal of Dermatology. Dr Mary has a keen interest in patient, nurse, and GP education, and has designed and contributed to various education programs in dermatology.

As a consultant, Dr Mary's clinical interests include eczema, acne, rosacea, pigmentation problems such as melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, hyperhidrosis, mole checks, paediatric dermatology, and skin care. She is experienced in performing various dermatological procedures, including skin surgery and steroid injections. Dr Mary is also a strong advocate for health equity and works extensively to highlight the dermatology needs of people with skin of colour. She has been a guest speaker at a number of national meetings, speaking on subjects such as dermatology in skin of colour and paediatric dermatology.
