About

Dr Khalid Al-Hourani is a specialised Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon dedicated to helping patients return to their activities -from elite sport to everyday life. He operates at The Wellington Hospital in London.

He is the only UK Orthopaedic surgeon to have completed an accredited orthopaedic sports knee fellowship in Boston, USA, training at world-renowned institutions including Boston Medical Centre, New England Baptist Hospital, Harvard University Health Services, and Beth Israel Medical Centre. During this time, he also served as team physician for elite Division I basketball and ice hockey athletes at Boston University. Gaining this fellowship required passing the rigorous United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs), making him one of a select group of UK orthopaedic surgeons to achieve this.

Prior to his Boston training, Dr Al-Hourani undertook advanced fellowships in sports knee surgery and trauma at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire — one of the UK’s leading tertiary centres for complex orthopaedic care.

Today, his practice covers the full spectrum of knee conditions — from sports injuries such as ACL and meniscus tears, to kneecap disorders, cartilage repair, knee preservation and realignment procedures, as well as partial and total knee replacement.

Patients benefit from his unique blend of US and UK training, ensuring access to the most advanced surgical techniques delivered with a clear, honest, and personalised approach.

His NHS practice is based at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey. Academic & Research Leadership.
