His training spans a wide range of areas, including ankle replacements, fusions, arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction, minimally invasive surgery, and the treatment of complex neurological conditions affecting the foot and ankle. His practice involves both operative and non-operative management of conditions like bunions, toe deformities, tendon disorders, plantar fasciitis, and foot and ankle arthritis.

Having trained under world-renowned mentors, Mr. Malhotra is committed to ensuring that trainees reach their full potential. He is actively involved in education, leading the junior doctor teaching program at RNOH, running simulation training, and regularly teaching on various courses and exam programs. He also travels internationally to lecture and present at conferences.

Mr. Malhotra is passionate about research, with numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and consensus documents to his name. He is engaged in cutting-edge research on innovative treatments for arthritis, deformity correction, neuromuscular disorders, and assessment methods for foot and ankle conditions. He also participates in educational activities and quality improvement projects, both locally and nationally, and serves as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at University College London's Department of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Science.

Throughout his career, Mr. Malhotra has received numerous awards, including prizes for simulation surgery and the 'Best Research Paper'. His research has earned first place for 'Best International Research Paper' by the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) in 2018, and he presented this work at the BOFAS Congress in 2019. In 2020, he received the 'Best Published Paper' award from EFAS for his work on ankle syndesmosis. For four consecutive years from 2021 to 2024, his research won the 'Chang Chen Best Paper Award' at BOFAS, with an additional second-place prize in 2022. In 2023, his work won three first-place awards at various national and international conferences, including the prestigious Presidential Prize from the European Foot & Ankle Society.
