Mr Jamie Vatish, a Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon at The Harborne Hospital, specialises in the comprehensive management of breast disease, with a particular focus on breast cancer surgery. His expertise extends to treating both breast cancer and benign conditions, providing patients with reassurance throughout their journey. Mr Vatish is highly skilled in oncoplastic surgery, employing techniques to preserve the aesthetic appearance of the breast alongside cancer treatment.
Among the select few surgeons in the West Midlands proficient in performing Chest Wall Perforator Flaps in Breast Conserving Surgery, Mr Vatish eliminates the necessity for mastectomy, offering patients a less invasive alternative.
Mr Vatish earned his medical degree from Guys, Kings and St Thomas' Medical School in 2010, alongside a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He completed his higher surgical training in the Midlands and obtained a National Fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. During his fellowship at the Leeds Breast Unit, he focused on managing Breast-Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), a rare immune cancer associated with breast implants.
Beyond his clinical duties, Mr Vatish contributes to medical education. He serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and has taught courses organised by the Royal College of Surgeons, London. Mr Vatish has authored numerous papers covering various aspects of surgery and breast disease, with a specific focus on breast cancer genomics and breast conserving surgery.
