About
Dr. Zinu Philipose is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with sub-speciality training in Liver diseases, and he works for both the National Health Service and the private sector. Having qualified in Medicine in 1995, he underwent his specialist registrar training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (Liver diseases) at the South Thames London Deanery, where he also worked at the King's Liver unit, the largest Liver transplant centre in the UK. Dr. Philipose's training included a research period at Croydon University Hospital, and two years of Liver diseases sub-specialty training. He then completed a Senior Clinical Fellowship at St Mark's Hospital, a renowned centre for Gastroenterology Academics and a tertiary centre for intestinal failure and inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Philipose was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist in 2009 at Worthing Hospital, where he helped establish several service developments. During this period, he was the only ERCP endoscopist for the hospital and was leading the set-up of the newly built ERCP endoscopy room. From 2016, he started working at Croydon University Hospital with a focus on setting up the Liver disease services, and he has successfully set up the Viral Hepatitis Network. Dr. Philipose continues to serve as the Hepatology Lead at Croydon University Hospital and also works at St George's Hospital performing Endoscopic Ultrasound for disorders of the pancreas, gall bladder, and biliary tract. He covers diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies for the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. With over 10 years of experience at a consultant level, he has managed all aspects of gastroenterology and has been exposed to and managed patients with a wide variety of gastroenterological and liver disorders. Dr. Philipose believes in patient-tailored care, with a focus on improving patient well-being, and he is happy to share his expertise in gastroenterology and liver diseases.
