About
Dr. Sara Trompeter is a Consultant Haematologist and Paediatric Haematologist with special interests in haemoglobin disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassaemia, iron disorders (overload and deficiency), G6PD deficiency, hereditary spherocytosis, and other red cell disorders. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 1997 with degrees in Medicine (MBChB) and Psychology (BSc). She was awarded MRCPCH by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 1999, FRCPath by the Royal College of Pathology in 2007, and an MSc from the University of Oxford in 2017. Dr. Trompeter has led the paediatric red cell research programme and has been actively involved in research into the appropriate use of transfusion in red cell disorders. Her areas of expertise include sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, iron overload, iron deficiency, G6PD deficiency, hereditary spherocytosis, and red blood cell disorders.
