Professor Richard Booton is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and Clinical Director for Lung Cancer & Thoracic Surgery. He graduated from the University of Leeds and completed higher specialist training in the North West, followed by a fellowship in Thoracic Oncology at The Christie and the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, receiving a PhD in 2006. He is the Programme Director for the RAPID screening programme, which aims to diagnose lung cancer within seven days. Professor Booton's clinical research interests include thoracic oncology, advanced bronchoscopy, and lung cancer screening. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed publications and is a member of various professional groups, including the British Thoracic Oncology Group and the Clinical Advisory Group of the National Lung Cancer Audit.
