Dr Maria Bickerstaff is a Consultant Rheumatologist at Barts Health. Her major clinical interests are in Pregnancy and Rheumatic Diseases, where she has 20 years of clinical experience and also in Adolescent and Young Adult Rheumatology. She qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School and has trained at St Georges', The Royal Free and Middlesex Hospitals, gaining experience in the management of a wide range of connective tissue diseases.

She obtained an ARC Clinical Research Fellowship at the Hammersmith Hospital, leading to a PhD. She has been a Consultant Rheumatologist since 2001, when she established High-Risk Ante-Natal and parallel Rheumatology/Obstetric clinics for the care of women with a broad range of rheumatic conditions associated with pregnancy, including autoimmune and both inflammatory and non-inflammatory disorders.
