About

Dr. Layla Al-Nakib is a Consultant Paediatrician with over 35 years of experience in the NHS and more than 30 years of specialist expertise in Paediatric Neurodisability and Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics.

She provides expert care for children and young people with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Developmental delays and learning difficulties
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Special educational needs
  • Genetic and syndromic conditions
  • Complex neurodevelopmental presentations

Dr. Al-Nakib trained in London (North West Thames), where she developed her expertise in Community Child Health — a subspecialty dedicated to supporting children with developmental and neurodisabling conditions. She has since served as an NHS Consultant in Child Development and Neurodisability in North West London, combining clinical practice with teaching and mentoring. She also trains and assesses paediatricians preparing for consultant roles across the UK.

She obtained her MRCPCH in 1998 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) in 2011.

Alongside her NHS role, Dr. Al-Nakib has over 18 years of private practice experience, focusing on the assessment and management of ADHD, autism, and sleep difficulties in children and adolescents. As a trained Sleep Practitioner with The Sleep Charity, she has particular expertise in supporting autistic young people experiencing sleep challenges.

Her clinical interests include ADHD in the context of learning disabilities, and she manages a wide range of complex presentations with a thoughtful, family-centred approach.

Dr. Al-Nakib is deeply committed to celebrating neurodiversity and believes that early identification and tailored support are essential to helping children reach their full potential. Families appreciate her compassionate care, clear communication, and dedication to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.
