Dr. David Williams is a Consultant Obstetric Physician specializing in maternal medical disorders in pregnancy, with a focus on safe prescribing and fetal wellbeing for successful pregnancy outcomes. He leads multidisciplinary teams managing kidney, rheumatology, gastroenterology, and neurological conditions in pregnancy at the Institute for Women's Health, University College London. Dr. Williams guides women with chronic diseases through pregnancy, ensuring optimal health and safe treatment during pregnancy and postpartum. He chaired the NICE Guideline for intrapartum care of pregnant women with medical disorders and is an expert member of the guideline on the management of hypertension in pregnancy. His research interests include pre-eclampsia, acute fatty liver of pregnancy, and inflammatory placental conditions, with a focus on the long-term consequences of gestational syndromes and paternal health on fetal growth.
