Dr. Christopher Groves is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer. His specialist interests include general gastroenterology, hepatology, Irritable Bowel Disease, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and endoscopic ultrasound. He is an accredited provider of colonoscopy for the national bowel screening programme and an assessor of colonoscopy techniques at a national level. Dr. Groves trained in gastroenterology with general internal medicine in the NW Thames region and undertook a clinical research fellowship at the Cancer Research UK Colorectal Unit, leading to an interest in familial colonic polyps and cancer. He is experienced in endoscopy and polypectomy and has trained in pancreatic and biliary diseases as well as ERCP. He is responsible for developing endoscopic ultrasound at his institution and is a member of the hepatobiliary team running the ERCP service for the SW Thames area. His areas of expertise include bowel cancer screening, colonoscopy, endoscopy, dyspepsia, colitis, Crohn's disease, pancreatitis, and liver disease.
