Damian is a consultant cardiac surgeon with a special interest in complex aortic surgery. He graduated from Imperial College London and went on to complete his higher surgical training in cardiothoracic surgery at the London Deanery. He has completed the prestigious aortic fellowship at St Bartholomew's Hospital London. He performs the full range of adult cardiac surgical procedures with a specialist interest in surgery to the thoracic aorta, aortic valve surgery, and coronary bypass surgery. 

Damian has a strong academic interest and has completed a PhD in cardiovascular medicine at Queen Mary University of London. His research on cellular senescence and acute kidney injury in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass was awarded the Ronald Edwards Medal by the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland. He has presented widely at international conferences and holds memberships to both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians.
