About
Dr Channa Jayasena is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Andrologist with many years of experience in the treatment and management of reproductive endocrinology conditions. He centres his practice around providing his patients with the best possible care, using cutting edge technology where necessary. He sees private patients at St Mary's Hospital, HCA Chiswick Hospital, and through video consultations.
Dr Jayasena earned his bachelor's degree in medicine at Cambridge University, which he followed with specialist Diabetes and Endocrinology training in various renowned London Hospitals and teaching centres. Dr Jayasena then gained fellowship with the Wellcome Trust, were he was among the first to lead first-to-human studies about the effects of novel hypothalamic peptides on the human reproductive axis. Since his Consultant appointment, Dr Jayasena has become the Clinical Lead for Male infertility and Andrology, the study of male reproductive and urological health.
During his time as Consultant and Clinical Lead, Dr Jayasena has helped in the development of cutting edge, state of the art treatment for male infertility such as microsurgical testicular sperm extraction, reactive oxygen species measurement, and testicular mapping. He has also won several awards for his research and clinical practice, such as the 2014 Young Endocrinologist Prize from The UK’s Society for Endocrinology.
He is an editor on several specialist journals, and has been invited to contribute to numerous medical textbooks. Dr. Jayasena plays an active role in clinical guideline development, and the training of other clinicians in the UK and internationally.
Dr. Jayasena enjoys cooking, DIY, and playing any type of sport with his kids (badly).
