Consultant Urologist with a specialist experience in robotic surgery and surgical technology.
My main interest is in minimally invasive surgery, image-guided surgery in Urology and digitisation of surgery and surgical education. My aim is to provide world-class cancer care for patients with pelvic urological cancers, and those needing robotic pelvic urological reconstructive surgery, and to establish a multispecialty robotic training environment for continuous professional development.
In addition to completing Urology training with a specialist focus in Uro-oncology and Robotic surgery, I have completed an MSC (Surgical technology) with distinction from Imperial College London, successfully defending my thesis on Augmented reality image guidance for robotic prostatectomy. I have successfully completed a postgraduate Diploma in clinical education with a view to developing a novel interactive environment incorporating established educational theories for the development of surgical skills.
I am currently a consultant Urologist working in the NHS at UCLH focussing on bladder and prostate cancer as well as reconstructive surgery with a special interest in optimising outcomes post-treatment. I completed the EAU/ERUS curriculum and have performed more than 1000 independent robotic procedures in pelvic cancer. I am currently a Proctor with Intuitive Surgical for training in Robotic Cystectomy and Intracorporeal Reconstruction, Robotic Prostatectomy (incl. Retzius-sparing technique), Robotic Salvage Prostatectomy and Robotic Reconstructive Surgery for Benign Procedures.
Mr Ashwin Sridhar has extensive expereince in Urology specialising in the diagnosis and management of prostate and bladder cancer.
