Mr. Barton-Smith specializes in complex robotic and minimally invasive surgery for benign gynaecological conditions, mainly related to pelvic pain and subfertility due to endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and abnormal bleeding. He is the Director of The Endometriosis Ltd. Peter completed a four-year fellowship at the MATTU, Royal Surrey County, Guildford from 2004-2008 and gained a doctorate degree in endometriosis. He trained in the use of the da Vinci robotic surgical system during a period as a Visiting Consultant in the USA at the North Texas in Dallas in 2008. He established the first and leading UK robotic gynaecological surgery programme at the Royal Surrey and has performed over 600 procedures. His areas of expertise include surgery for endometriosis, robotic and minimally invasive surgery for simple and complex benign conditions, hysteroscopic surgery, and gynaecology.
