Lorenzo Garagnani is a Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon with extensive experience in treating various disorders of the hand, wrist, and upper limb nerves in both adults and children. He has a special interest in complex wrist surgery and arthroscopy, and surgery of congenital anomalies of the hand and upper limb.
Apart from his clinical work, Lorenzo is also actively involved in medical education. He supervises and teaches Specialist Trainees, Hand Fellows, and medical students, and holds various leadership positions including the Lead for Undergraduate Medical Education in Orthopaedics at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, tutor for the British Diploma in Hand Surgery, and examiner for the European Diploma in Hand Surgery.
Lorenzo is an Honorary Reader at King's College London and Director of IBRA's London Upper Limb Fellowship. He is also the joint Lead of the Hand Unit at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London.
Lorenzo has authored numerous scientific publications and is a regular speaker and faculty at national and international conferences, meetings, and courses. He is known for his work and research on minimally invasive techniques in hand and wrist surgery, particularly for patients with congenital and acquired hand disorders.
Lorenzo's NHS practice is based at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, while he also consults privately at London Bridge Hospital and The Portland Hospital for Women and Children.
Additionally, Lorenzo holds various leadership positions in professional organizations, including President of the Italian Medical Society of Great Britain (IMSoGB), past President of the Pediatric Hand - International Society of Surgeons (PHISOS), Member of the International Traveling Fellows Committee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and of the Diploma Examination Committee of the European Board of Hand Surgery (EBHS) / Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH).
