Dr Vikram Sharma is a Consultant Hepatologist with training in gastroenterology and hepatology from the renowned North East Thames rotation. He completed a PhD at University College London, researching ways of improving portal hypertension in cirrhosis of the liver. Dr Sharma has a special interest in treating patients with autoimmune disease of the liver and bile duct disease, although his daily clinical work involves a wide range of liver diseases, including fatty liver disease, hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, and liver cancer, as well as general gastroenterology. He is actively involved in research and has published in a range of peer-reviewed academic journals. Dr Sharma has also been involved in the running and establishment of several multicentre clinical trials. His expertise includes upper GI endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, abnormal liver function, fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver, portal hypertension, biliary disease, autoimmune disease of the liver, liver cancer, weight loss, jaundice, alcohol-related liver and GI disease, alcohol detox, abdominal pain, haemorrhoids, and piles.
