Leading private healthcare provider HCA Healthcare UK has announced today the appointment of Kathryn Hornby as its Chief Nursing Executive.
In her role Kathryn will oversee the development of HCA UK’s nursing strategy and the career management of nursing and allied health professionals (AHPs). She will lead a team of seven Chief Nursing Officers and 3000 nursing and allied health professionals across HCA Healthcare UK’s network of hospitals, outpatient centres and specialist clinics.
Kathryn joined HCA Healthcare UK in 2017 after a 17-year nursing career in the NHS, including 10 years at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. She began her career as an intensive care nurse, later specialising in oncology, and led the establishment of the Acute Oncology Service at Manchester University NHS Trust.
Since joining HCA Healthcare UK, Kathryn has served as Chief Nursing Officer for London Bridge Hospital, The Harley Street Clinic, Leaders in Oncology Care and HCA UK at UCH. She succeeds Carol Kefford as Chief Nursing Executive who retired in January 2025 after more than three years in the role.
