Our team

Our embryologists

Lister Fertility Clinic Embryology team comprises of highly skilled and experienced embryologists led by our laboratory director. The embryologists are trained in the most advanced IVF techniques using the latest equipment in a recently expanded and upgraded state-of-the-art laboratory.

As required for a clinic that is subject to regular HFEA inspection, the laboratory meets the highest standards for quality, safety, and patient care including the use of the RI Witness system that utilizes RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to track and record patient samples at each step of the ART process to act as a safeguard and a reassurance for both the clinic and patients.

Our sonographers

Our team of sonographers has a wealth of experience in pelvic ultrasonography and their expertise in monitoring fertility treatments began at the opening of our clinic in 1988.

As well as working tirelessly providing baseline scanning and follicular tracking for treatment cycles, they offer patients valuable continuity of care, empathy and compassion through their treatment journey.

Our nursing team

Our team of dynamic senior sisters, nurse sonographers and nurse practitioners have vast experience in reproductive medicine that enables them to advise and support patients on all aspects of their care.

Supported by the consultant-led approach of the clinic, they guide our patients throughout their treatment pathway, offer valuable clinical advice where appropriate, ensure any concerns surrounding consents, medication or understanding protocols are resolved. The nursing team are dedicated to ensuring that the patient is supported and informed throughout the treatment. Their dedication, commitment and empathy makes them an invaluable asset available to you during this time.

They are ably supported by a team of health care assistants and phlebotomists.

Our counsellors

At the Lister Fertility Clinic in Chelsea, they provide a free-of-charge, unique counselling service of ‘Open Door’ sessions to anyone going through treatments both before, during treatment and beyond. We believe this provides a level of patient support, which cannot be found in any other UK Fertility Clinic.

Our team at the Lister Fertility Clinic at The Portland  also offer in-house supportive counselling to anyone going through treatment and can tailor this to your individual needs. Ask our team about your councelling options today.

Implications counselling

This is a routine part of treatment for anyone considering donor conception or considering egg sharing or donating eggs, sperm or embryos; but available for all patients who wish to explore the implications of their treatment decisions, for themselves, their wider network and most importantly any child conceived as a result of treatment. If in a relationship, it is important that implications counselling is attended as a couple; although additional appointments can be attended individually.

In a similar way, for patients following the route of Surrogacy to create their family, both the couple and the Surrogate and their partner (if they have one), would need to attend counselling individually first, followed by a group counselling session. Please be assured that we will aim to make your fertility journey feel as supported and stress free as possible.

Therapeutic counselling

This support is available via the Counselling Service; providing a free independent and confidential resource for all patients. Patients can attend individually or with their partner. This can be crucial for some patients, since past experiences or life events may be affecting them when moving forward with treatments – the counselling service provides a safe space for them to make sense, or explore things further.

Navigating your fertility journey

Stress and anxiety arise in fertility treatments mainly because there is so little control over the outcomes – being able to talk about this and considering coping strategies can help patients to manage better as they navigate their way through their individual fertility journey.

We recognise how difficult it is to cope with the emotional and psychological distress experienced routinely during fertility treatment, which at times can feel overwhelming. Research has shown that 90% of fertility patients experience symptoms of depression or anxiety relating to their fertility problems (Fertility Network UK 2016).
