Renal medicine (nephrology)

Specialist care for kidney conditions

Our experienced renal consultants specialise in the treatment and management of diseases affecting the function of your kidneys

What is nephrology?

Nephrology, also known as renal medicine, is a medical specialty dedicated to supporting patients with renal (kidney) impairment or failure. When your kidneys aren't functioning correctly, your body accumulates the waste toxins that would normally be excreted in your urine.

We have the facilities and expertise to treat a range of conditions that can affect kidney function, including diabetes, chronic kidney disease (CKD), renal tubular disease, acute kidney injury and autoimmune disorders such as lupus nephritis and vasculitis. Our renal service brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts, including dedicated nephrologists, transplant surgeons, urologists, interventional radiologists and highly trained dialysis nurses to offer convenient access to dialysis and live-donor kidney transplant procedures.

We also offer holiday dialysis at London Bridge Hospital and The Wellington Hospital in St John's Wood. We provide holiday dialysis in bright, spacious en-suite rooms, within a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Our kidney specialist expertise

Our on-site diagnostic facilities test for a range of kidney disease and related problems, helping us to deliver the best course of treatment faster.
