Acute internal medicine
Immediate diagnosis and management
Acute internal medicine (AIM) is the early management of a patient's condition which may require urgent attention
Overview
If you're admitted to hospital with symptoms that require urgent but not emergency medical attention, you'll be cared for by doctors who specialise in acute internal medicine for the first 72 hours. Acute internal medicine, also referred to as AIM, is dedicated to the immediate and early management of patients who need urgent medical attention.
We have dedicated Acute Admissions Units at a number of HCA UK Hospitals where your GP can refer you for fast access to an AIM consultant who have a broad range of expertise. AIM doctor work closely with doctors and surgeons from other specialties and form part of the multidisciplinary team, who will investigate your symptoms and begin any treatment you might need as soon as possible.
