What to expect

Whenever you visit one of our facilities, no matter how long you stay with us, we want you to feel relaxed and ready. Knowing what to expect when you visit, and if there's anything you need to do to prepare, should help you be even more confident about your stay.

Your type of appointment

For outpatients

Useful information for appointments with a consultant, physiotherapist, a test or scan.

For day case patients

Useful information for when you're having a procedure that doesn't involve an overnight stay.

For inpatients

What to expect if we're caring for you overnight or longer in one of our hospitals.

Chaperones

You can choose to have your partner, relative or friend with you during your consultations. You also have the right to ask for a chaperone to be provided by the hospital and this can be helpful when you want extra support during an examination but would prefer not to have your partner, relative or friend in the room. If you would like a chaperone to be present during a physical examination/consultation, or if you would prefer to be examined by a health professional of the same gender as yourself, please let your consultant know and we will do our best to comply with your wishes.

Your opinion makes a difference

Our aim is to deliver a high quality of service to all our patients and your feedback will help us monitor how well we are doing and help us to achieve an even higher standard of care.

Following your experience with us we may ask you to complete a survey – this will either be by one of our team on the ward or you will receive a text or email with instructions to complete when you’re home. It is completely anonymous and should only take a few minutes to complete.

We thank you in advance for sharing your time and thoughts with us.
