Professor Persad is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and visiting Professor at several Universities including Bristol. He is a highly experienced Prostate Surgeon and Andrologist having trained in London, Bristol and Cambridge with Postgraduate fellowships at Johns Hopkins, USA and Lund, Sweden.
He has been a national pioneer in minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of benign prostate disease (BPH) as an alternative to TURP. Professor Persad works closely with the Oncology team to improve post treatment symptoms of radiation and treatment-induced toxicities. This includes offering treatment for erectile dysfunction, incontinence , bladder dysfunction (eg radiation cystitis) and loss of libido and low testosterone symptoms.
He is a leader in the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction. If treatment with tablets or medical devices hasn’t proved successful, he can offer restorative surgery using state-of-the-art penile prosthetic devices. He works as part of a very experienced team in this area . He also treats Peyronie’s disease, offering medical treatments in its early phases, and surgical correction if this fails.
Professor Persad has 25 years of experience in the restoration of fertility using microsurgical Reversal of Vasectomy and has some of the best results nationally. He also offers male infertility procedures such varicocele correction and testicular extraction of sperm in order to optimize assisted conception techniques.
