Professor Gareth Evans is a Consultant Geneticist with a national and international reputation for his work in cancer genetics, particularly neurofibromatosis and breast cancer. He developed a highly regarded clinical service for cancer genetics in the North West of England and is an important opinion leader on hereditary breast cancer and cancer syndromes. Professor Evans has published approximately 980 peer-reviewed research publications, with over 220 on neurofibromatosis. He led a successful bid for a nationally funded NF2 service, securing £7.5 million per year. He has developed a national training program for clinicians, nurses, and genetic counselors in breast cancer genetics. His clinical interests include hereditary cancer screening, genetics, breast cancer, and neurofibromatosis.
