Mr Marc Laniado is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and chairman of the prostate cancer multidisciplinary team at the Princess Grace Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK. He offers an individualised approach to managing his patients, tailoring assessments and treatments to the specific beliefs and values of each patient. He is proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with prostate cancer and urinary symptoms resulting from an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)).
Mr Laniado provides patients with urinary symptoms due to BPH with lifestyle change recommendations and medications. If unsuccessful, he conducts day-case procedures, such as UroLift and Rezum, to help alleviate urinary symptoms, whilst maintaining ejaculation. In cases where patients have unsuitable prostates, Mr Laniado offers Aquablation or Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), both of which can also conserve erection and ejaculation. To ensure the best results, Mr Laniado utilises the latest technology and techniques in his practice. Mr Laniado is highly experienced in High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for treating prostate cancer, which preserves continence and erections in most patients.
After completing training in open prostatectomy, Mr Laniado began performing laparoscopic prostatectomies in 2006, before moving on to robotic prostatectomies in 2008/9. At the end of 2016, he switched to the Retzius-sparing technique for robotic prostatectomy, a technique which, in his experience, helps preserve erection function and allows patients quickly recover bladder control. On average, he performs around 100 Retzius-sparing prostatectomies each year. Since 2012, he has been responsible for driving the development of multiparametric MRI and MRI-targeted fusion biopsies of the prostate to aid in accurate patient diagnosis. He conducts more than 200 biopsies a year.
Outside of work, he enjoys windsurfing in Poole, Dorset, running, tennis and walking his Labradors in Windsor Great Park.
