Dr. Emmanuel Ako is a Consultant Cardiologist specializing in coronary intervention and the treatment of coronary artery disease. He is the chest pain lead and digital innovator with expertise in cardiovascular complications in haemoglobinopathies such as thalassemia and sickle cell disease. He studied medicine at University College London, completed his postgraduate medical training at St George's, the London Chest, and the Heart Hospital in London. He has been involved in stem cell research for ischaemic heart disease and the effects of haemoglobinopathies on the cardiovascular system. Dr. Ako is active in clinical education, research, and simulation-based training in cardiology.
