Mr Chelliah Selvasekar is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester and he also sees patients privately, including at The Christie Private Care.
Mr Selvasekar is a General Surgeon, with expertise in minimally-invasive surgery, and with sub-specialties in gastrointestinal cancers, gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He qualified in Madras, India and this was followed by specialist registrar training in Manchester. He then did two years’ full time clinical research at University College London on minimally invasive treatment in the management of dysplastic lesions, which led to an MD.
After this, Mr Selvasekar spent a year as an international clinical colorectal fellow at the Mayo Clinic in the US, where he gained further experience in minimally invasive and complex colorectal surgery, before completing his surgical training at The Christie Hospital. He is also an accredited colonoscopoist for the national bowel screening programme and offers diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies. Mr Selvasekar also holds an Honorary Lecturer with the University of Liverpool and he is a member of the Faculty of Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh on the surgical courses.
