Bassel Zebian is a Consultant Paediatric and Adult Neurosurgeon with interests in the management of brain and spine tumours (including pineal, ventricular, thalamic, and brainstem tumours), hydrocephalus, endoscopy and minimally invasive neurosurgery, Chiari malformations and syringomyelia, neural tube defects (including fetoscopic repair of open spina bifida/myelomeningocele), tethered cord, management of spasticity (including selective dorsal rhizotomy), paediatric neurovascular conditions (haemorrhages), and degenerative spine conditions (slipped discs and trapped nerves). He has received global innovation in healthcare awards for his endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques and has one of the largest series of paediatric brain and spine tumour resections using Gliolan (intraoperative tumour fluorescence) in the UK. He is the neurosurgical lead on fetoscopic repairs of open neural tube defects. His areas of expertise include brain and spinal tumour resections, shunts, endoscopic third ventriculostomies and fenestrations, endoscopic resection of brain tumours, repair of neural tube defects and untethering of the spinal cord, fetoscopic repair of open neural tube defects, Chiari decompression, spinal decompression including discectomy, surgical management of paediatric neurovascular conditions, and selective dorsal rhizotomy.
